Gerrit is an experienced operator, having spent the majority of his career leading and advising Canadian small and medium sized businesses through periods of rapid growth.

Prior to launching Galineer, Gerrit was the Chief Operating Officer of Chelsea Avondale, a Canadian growth stage insurance technology business that has implemented scientific & technology solutions to bring a new & better approach to the insurance industry’s legacy pricing and operating model.

At Chelsea Avondale, Gerrit maintained overall responsibility for the company’s core business operations and strategy, leading its organizational redesign & business process optimization as well as multiple fundraising rounds.

Gerrit began his career with KPMG’s transactions advisory practice, starting in Ottawa then moving to New York City. At KPMG, Gerrit led a team of more than 40 people to help small and medium sized business owners across Canada and the U.S. acquire, sell and value their companies.

Gerrit holds a master’s degree in finance & private equity from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the University of Ottawa.
